Facts.

Very nice book, i would recomend it to anybody. I'm very satisfied. Thanks.

While open to the author's claims, I found that this is not a fair or reasonable book. Had I been only a bit less aware of SDA doctrines, or of Ellen White's writings, I might have been favorably impressed. However, some passages just didn't ring true. Slattery's apparently assumes, for example, that every word penned by Ellen White is believed by SDA's to be the inspired word of God. How else could he use extracts from her personal letters to "disprove" her divine inspiration? Additionally, many of his arguments against SDA doctrine are actually arguments against misunderstandings of those doctrines. That these misunderstandings were held by Slattery or his SDA associates is not evidence that the actual doctrines are false. Finally, Slattery employs a tone of condescension throughout that is annoying and quite misplaced. If Slattery had thought through SDA doctrine (or whatever doctrine he now ascribes to) as thoroughly as the SDA founders did, I doubt he would have written in such a voice. I doubt he would have written at all.Update Feb 2009: I am not even an SDA myself anymore, but still agree with everything I initially put into this review. A terrible critique of Adventism and Ellen White, suffering from an utter lack of charity or fairness.

Good day.I too grew up in a Seventh-Day Adventist (SDA) home. I attended the SDA theological seminary one year, and after many years of studying the Bible and the Ellen G. White writings (her books are used as textbooks in their colleges), I discovered that no one who studies both, the Bible "and" the E.G. White books, is able nor capable of remaining in support of the Seventh-Day Adventist organization. The writer who posted the following statement reflects the fundamental reason why he/she supports the SDA:Quote: "To be honest, I NEVER GO TO ELLEN WHITE FOR SPIRITUAL GUIDENCE OR ANYTHING ELSE. I'm good with my Bible,"Study, study, study,..."Let no one deceive you..." Mathew 24.Noe L.

This book is concise and straight o the point. Anyone who has spent considerable time in the SDA church, and been educated in the traditions of the church, will have their doubts cleared up after reading this book. I noticed that the author has shared the pain points of many SDA's concerning theology, Ellen White, and the issues of Salvation in general and especially the Gospel. I'm glad that I have read this book because it confirms the conclusions that I had already made as an independent thinker and lets me know I was not alone.

John 3:16-17New International Version (NIV)16 For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. 17 For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him.
