I thoroughly enjoyed this book.Using her easy to understand, friends-chatting-over-coffee writing style, Nicole Unice takes a real look at the struggles that we face in day-to-day, real world life. And using sound biblical principles and teaching, she introduces the idea that the new life that you get when you begin to know and understand the depth of God's love has the power to rewrite even the old scars that mar your story and contribute to your current struggles.You may have heard it said, "You can't start over and create a new beginning, but you can start from today and create a new ending." Nicole explores the idea that through a God for whom nothing is impossible, that new beginning can be achieved, those old wounds that have labeled you and held influence can be re-written when you give Jesus the pen and ask him to re-write even that part of your story that has held you captive for far too long.The struggle is real, but so is our God.

This book is amazing! Sometimes I struggle with seeing how the puzzle pieces of life fit together and make sense. I wrestle with how I feel and think about the difficult or confusing parts of the puzzle. (And this actual puzzle in the photo had several areas that were not clear and took days of patience to put together ... that cloudy San Francisco sky!! )Sometimes I’m just looking at it all wrong. And something that seems like it should be easy is hard or emotional. And I struggle with anxiety.In this book, the author does a great job of helping you fit together all the random, frustrating and confusing struggles into a complete picture of wholeness and purpose. I’m experiencing a new freedom in this season of life (the empty nest) and a renewed trust that God has a perfect completed plan for my life.

I've been a fan of Nicole Unice's since her first book and now, with the latest publication what originally drew me to her continues to make me continue to fangirl her. Nicole does not beat around the bush and her honesty is refreshing. Life isn't easy and what I love about Nicole is that she reminds us that even when we are surrounded by conveniences we still have permission to wrestle. But instead of using a common phrase as permission to gripe Nicole encourages us to instead focus on God.

I was fortunate enough to receive an advance copy of this book so I've already had an opportunity to read it even though it was just launched. I liked it so much that I have purchased another copy on the way so I can give it to my sister!Nicole wrote a great book here y'all! This book is well-rounded as each chapter offers fresh insight, thought-provoking questions, as well as comments or prayers all designed to help you go deeper. Nothing shallow here. Nicole's counseling background shines through in this book.We are to acknowledge the truth of who we really are, yes, but the story isn't over. We have the power to write a new truth-filled story that is filled with hope and freedom.I intend to go through this book and Bible study with my Mom's group once we all get back into our routines now that school is back in session. Nicole writes with a raw honesty about her own life and the lives of others she has counseled and draws from those experiences truths that are common to all of us. She describes patterns that keep us stuck in our old stories that feel like they were written from my history (I actually have a perm story too!) then gracefully guides us into finding our new story - with Christ in the center. Each chapter is so thought provoking, I had to stop and ponder and pray. As I read, I could feel something that was stuck in me give way and in tears I could let go a little of those old lies about who I am and how I don’t measure up. The book is honest, it allows us to laugh at ourselves, and it leads us into an understanding of how our loving God sees us. What a gift! Thanks Nicole!

I had the pleasure of hearing Nicole Unice speak at a women's event, so buying her book a year later was a no-brainer. What I loved about "The Struggle is Real," is that she doesn't only focus on her own story. So many authors tell you their story and leave you to glean how to apply their successes to your own life. Nicole focuses on YOU (me) and YOUR story, and give tangible methods to apply God and his word to your life and rewrite your story with His design. I enjoyed the book and hope you will too!
