70 Green Smoothie Recipe is a FANTASTIC book with many great classic and new ways to do smoothies. It is great for both the novice and experienced smoothie maker. I personally have found many new favorite smoothie recipes that, without this book, I would have never thought to combine or create on my own.Some great features about this book are the chapter layouts. Whatever dietary need, restrictions or cravings you have they are all clearly labeled and sectioned out. This book is so easy to navigate! Some of my personal favorite recipes have come from the Post Workout Smoothies, Chapters 8-14. They pack a punch of protein and flavor that leaves me full and feeling well nourished. The Mint Chocolate Smoothie with Spinach and the Fruity Green Smoothie are to die for! The directions are clear and the ingredients are common and all can be bought at your local grocery store. (No flying to morocco to get freshly grated exotic vanilla bean root).I personally own both a traditional blender and fancy centrifugal juicer and I use this recipe book for both devices. I follow the recipes exactly when I use my blender. But when I use my centrifugal juicer I leave out the added juices and any ice till the end. I simply add the milks, waters, etc. to my blend after and only add crushed ice if I desire it.I would highly recommend this book for anyone who is looking for ways to eat healthier in their day to day life without having to spend an arm and leg for pre-made juices or fancy juicing books. In this book it explains why smoothies are good for you and how they can provide energy throughout the day without experiencing that crash he would get from just drinking coffee for your energy. It does seem a little repetitive. To Me it seems like the recipes were written by different people. One section recipes are descriptive tell you how much of an ingredient you need to add. In chapter 7 it doesn't tell you how much of anything to use just what's in it ... For instance peanuts with mint and honey : The recipe followspeanuts without shells one handful of mint leaves, thick curd honey, ice cubesit says grind to a paste add ice cubes and servethe only thing that tells you the amount is the mint leaves. I was going back and fourth on weather or not to give this 3 or 4 stars, and someone who is new to smoothies may not know or have ever heard of some of the ingredients or where to find them in the store. This was hard to review I did receive this in turn for an honest review but I have read other books that tell you what the ingredient is where in the store you can find it or if you need to go to a health food store. It was not really a bad book some of the Recipies look very good and are sectioned to what's good for what time of day what your hoping to get from your smoothie.. I went with 3 stars for the inconsistency in the book and repetitiveness.

I guess you could call me a health nut; I've been making and experimenting with green smoothies for over ten years now. I was even a raw vegan for about a few months (which I do recommend it for a short term stint... for vanity reasons if nothing else! My skin looked photo shopped after the first month, it was so pretty!) My point is that I know a lot about smoothies. I research the nutritional content of various fruits and vegetables (I'm most definitely the type of person who does research over every last minute substance that I'm putting in my body) and flavor profiles different foods bring to the blender. I even got a vitamix because I'm deadly serious about my smoothies :)I saw this book had mixed reviews so I was curious as to why, so I offered my written analysis in exchange for a copy of the book. I agree with some of the other reviewers that the ebook is rather simple, but I think for most people this is a good thing. It took me years to figure out what fruits mix with what vegetables best and it took years to figure out that, for the most part, you can't mess up a green recipe. However, if I had this book to start with, my process would have been much more fun and enjoyable, I would have learned a lot more in less time. The author goes into the history and differences between blending, juicing, etc. which is all nice, but it's nothing I don't already know at this point. I would argue that it's very simply written, but I can concede that the simplicity will attract more readers and perhaps younger readers as well. A simple cook book is probably the best kind of cook book.The recipes themselves are great. I was surprised that many of them are ones I haven't tried (I would never think to use fennel and I don't often use herbs at all, but this recipe book does!) So even someone who's blended smoothies for years will probably find some inspiration from this book. A beginner will absolutely love a book like this and everyone in between should have at least a positive experience from trying out some of the recipes and getting a basic knowledge of what they're doing.My only gripe is that there is no nutritional content breaking down the components of each smoothie. I think that aspect alone would have made it the best smoothie book ever. I would LOVE to know the caloric content, protein, carbohydrates, and break down of vitamins. I think that's the main reason people get into green smoothies and it's a travesty this book doesn't cater to that.But it's still a book worth looking at for the fun recipes. It's excellently written and easy to follow.I received this book in exchange for an unbiased and honest critique. I hope I've fulfilled that!
