Started teaching myself hand lettering. I agree with another poster that there are many blank pages for practicing but there is something neat about seeing improvements so that's not all bad. I also use the alphabet page as a reference. For the money, I think it's a decent investment. It's the only book I've purchased and I feel like I'm on track. I also look at online videos and instagram posts which are greatly helpful.

I love this book. I used to practice watching tutorials but having this book makes a world of a difference. It is a beautiful book that includes the entire alphabet and space to trace them and practice them. It shows you how to connect letters and even make them dance! I love this book. I recommend this to beginners and people that are trying to better their technique.

Absolutely love this book. So easy to follow along and practice. Love that there's a sample for you to trace and space to practice right after.Someone mentioned half the book is blank pages but in reality, it's space to practice and I actually like it.I like to compare my handwriting side by side by the example.

To say I was disappointed would be an understatement. This is the first book on hand lettering I had purchased and it is a pretty book, sure for the counter-top, not what I was looking for. I am new to hand lettering and I LOVE IT!! The most important thing for a newcomer and every Blog out there will back me up - probably even the author of this book, though she neglected to even mention these points in her beginners book- and that is the six basic stokes. These stokes are all I worked on for the first month of practice until I advanced to whole letters. The reason is the necessity of building muscle memory while writing the letters, until it becomes routine (I am not there yet lol) Using the basic strokes you can write 98% of the entire alphabet. There are few stokes outside of them, yet sadly these are not even brought up in this book on beginning hand lettering.This author did not even mention the existence of the basic stokes, her book is basically only some practice pages where you are given 4 inches to practice each letter in the alphabet. That's it. Then she talks a bit about placement of letters when writing quotes... really nothing to grab hold of and to learn this new skill. But it is a pretty book. I returned the book as I was not looking, not could I afford for a coffee table book. I felt obligated to record my findings for my fellow amazon-customer peers. I’m on the fence with this book. # 1 issues is there are no uppercase letter tutorials! That’s in the second book... #2 issue is there was some horrible editing of this beautiful book. Lots of mistakes, typos. Besides that it’s a great beginner book...her technique isn’t what I really wanted, I needed a book what was more for brush lettering and hers is what I would call faux lettering, she makes her letters thick by going back and filling in - very time consuming....

Absolutely love this book!The first few pages are just informational on supplies and the author's favorites and such. I just started brush lettering and already trashed one pen on another book, so this book is perfect in my opinion. The practice pages are exactly that, but the plus side is that the paper in the book has little to no texture! So it doesn't fray your brush tips. There is some project pages on the back that you can try out. The book itself is very well made from the covers with the hard corners to the spiral binding.

Wish I could give a 4.5 lol. This book was great at helping me understand the techniques behind hand-lettering, and gave me just enough room for practicing. The book is beautiful, feels sturdy, and the paper is thick enough to stop most pens and markers (except sharpies) from bleeding through. However, there are multiple typos and other errors in the content that could have been fixed by a semi-competent editor. Otherwise, the author is very talented and the book is fun to go through if you are interested in hand lettering. I got through it in about a week by doing roughly 4 pages per night.

I am a beginner to hand lettering and this book is great! Tons of space for you to practice your own letters after being able to trace theirs. It didn't take me long to catch on at all!

This book really only deserves one star, but I can't seem to bring myself to be that criticial. There is some nice lettering, but the book is very incomplete and very VERY repetitive. First of all - NO capital lettering is shown. Pages 19-25 take you through the lower case alphabet with room to practice. Then, 26-33 repeat this - exactly. There is so much blank space in the book. Also, color is used sparingly in the book which makes it hard to follow- the letters are shown with arrows giving you direction of how to move the pen. It's all in black and a bit overwhelming to follow. Color could have improved this and for the expensive price of the book, it should have been printed with color. I buy a lot of art books and have never given a bad review before. Skip this book and just look on youtube or maybe try the other books out there (I wish I did).
